Michael Krout is a fine art photographer who lives and works in Asheville, NC. Inspired by the natural beauty of the area, he made Asheville his home in the early 1990's. He has since spent his free time traversing and photographing the landscapes, city views, and local performances of the mountains.
Michael’s work has been published in local journals in addition to working with the oldest professional ballet company in the state of North Carolina, the Asheville Ballet Company. After completing a long exposure workshop in Vancouver, BC, his work has focused on utilizing this technique to reimagine the world around him and stretch the limits of his vision.
Since purchasing a used 35mm film camera in my youth, a camera has been a constant companion. Like a first person chronographer, it has always been there to capture moments of family, friends, events, nature or anything else that inspired an image.
I focus on capturing people and places in an authentic, natural state. In my most recent work I utilize long exposure to explore how to slow down our often chaotic world and create immersive, tranquil images that draw in and soothe the viewer.
